The Palestinians want full right of return. In a nation that is based on a parliamentary form of government, eventually the Palestinians will take over eventually as the majority. They know that, and so do the Israelis. That is what is behind the insistence that “Israel be recognized as a Jewish state.”
Israel will never consent to full right of return, because they fear, rightfully I believe, that they will be put against the wall and shot by the Palestinians.
Palestinians can’t militarily conquer Palestine. The Israelis have been unable to stop the asymmetric war being waged by the Muslim World. So rockets fly one way, bombs the other. Crowds rush the border, and the Israeli military pushes them back.
All the while all the people with that bumper sticker shake their heads and wonder aloud “Why can’t we all just get along?”
It will all end one day. Just not for awhile.
